April 20th, 2022

Burlington Green has  two important things they  could use your help with this month – they hope  you can lend a hand.

Burlington Green is looking for people like this to help give away trees on the weekend.

  1. They are in need of volunteers to help with the Tree Giveaway this Saturday, April 23rd. Can you help?

It’s quick and easy to sign up to help. Great opportunity for high school volunteer hours too!

And to spread the word, we’d love shares on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIN.

We’re also looking for folks to join our amazing Board and help with other fun and rewarding activities. See our current volunteer opportunities.

    Quick caveat.

If you accept one or more of these trees. If you plan on cutting one down, on your property for whatever reason. Later it could cost you in excess of 5 to 10 thousand dollars a tree or more and a wait time to get permission from the tree gods in excess of 6 months.

Basically it is a tree tax punishing people with trees while those without trees pay nothing. That could put a damper on your property rights and plans for a pool, deck, renovation, new home builds etc. Remember this is your property. Don’t hand the ownership and rights to it to the City. Trees with a Tree By-law become a large liability. With no By-law. Trees are an asset. This Mayor cares little about your problems down the road. Even less when she’s not around any more.

For those that want these problems down the road. Feel free to have my share as well. I know quite a few people who would say the same. Warnings should be given to people taking these trees, of the possible financial pitfalls down the road. If you still want a tree God bless you.
