Thousands knew about the lights – and they all visited the house on Spruce Street that had an almost overwhelming display of Christmas decoration.
Doug Musson had put up the lights for more than 30 years.
Earlier this week Doug was up on a ladder trying to fix a leak on the display and he fell. He passed away later that evening.
Due to the overwhelming response there is no longer a set date or time to pay our respects to Mr. Doug Musson. Please take the time over the holidays should you wish to visit the display and pay your respects.
3360 Spruce Avenue Burlington.
Early Wednesday morning Mayor Golding tweeted:
“Doug and the Musson family have provided Burlington with a wonderful display of Christmas Lights on their home for many, many years,”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Musson family.”
I started taking my grandson to see Mr. Musson’s display when he was about 4. He’s twenty-two now, so that says a lot about how long Mr. Musson has been putting this display up. It has always been a bright and wonderful light in the midst of the dark winter. He truly gave to his community.
Truly sad. Mr. Musson’s Christmas displays were always amazing. The parking lot at Tuck Public School was filled with cars and visitors taking in his displays. They were something unique.
I’m very sorry to read this. For years we have taken visitors from out of town to enjoy his wonderful display. It’s a great loss for Burlington.
There is a go-fund-me page set up.

Doug will be sorely missed. A real tragedy in the neighbourhood. Do we know what PayPal or Go Fund Me page is the best to donate to this family? There are a few out there and want to make sure to use correct one.
I live around the corner from the “Griswold’s” as they are affectionately known. This display has always been a feature of the neighbourhood at Christmas and brought joy to so many. I hope they find a way to keep it going.
My deepest condolences to the Musson family.

What a sad story. It is always such a joy to drive past that house.
