BURLINGTON, ON
There will be no Burlington Transit service on December 25 (Christmas Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day).
For information on the level of service provided from Dec. 24, 2016 through to Jan. 2, 2017, please see our Holiday Service page which contains last trip departure information for early end to service Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and extended trips on select routes offered on Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve).
Some years ago now, when I lived there, the Town of Oakville electorate decided
to replace both their Mayor and majority of councillors specifically with “greener” representatives. Under the leadership of Mayor Rob Burton, that move continues to result in numerous sustainable and environmental decisions enhancing many areas of their lives and I suspect transit is another one. One can see
examples at Council meetings on Cogeco 23.
You can also ride your bike on the newly paved Fairview St.as the 25th will be the safest day of the year to do so.
Why is it that Oakville provides public transit on December 25th and January 1st and Burlington does not? With a Mayor and Council always touting the use of public transit one would think that they would make it possible for those residents who do not have a car and require public transit to be accommodated.
