There are speeches – and then there are speeches.

OprahTake the ten minutes needed to listen to Oprah Winfrey make a barn burner of a speech at the Golden Globe awards last night. It equals anything Winston Churchill had to say during the Second World War.

Listen to it and share it widely. She is part of a turning point in the history of this world.

Amazing! .

Wow, I guess when you lean so far left you forget which men Opera was an enabler for. I suggest you keep your daughters away from her. She is not as perfect as you make her out to be.

Wow! You actually said that? Do you have a wife, a girlfriend, a daughter? Times have changed Mr. Fenton.
You apprently don’t realize that these are darker times for many women.

George, you have missed my point entirely. But I will play along.
Times have changed? Only time has changed, for women it has always been a struggle, the suffrage movement, being legal property, Inheritance inequality, subservient to religion etc.
As far as these women in black frocks are concerned the most poignant statement I have heard on this Hollywood issue is by Uma Thurman, It is a look at the decisions in life she was forced to make and the guilt she now has to live with and the bravery of the statement to warn others, sadly there is no free lunch.
p.s They should really still teach history in schools.

Winston Churchill was a true statesman in a darker time. He worked tirelessly for victory against an enemy of our Western civilization’s, His speeches were constructed with great thought to bolster the West against an evil that could not be negotiated with.
To that end he was a man who’s words and deeds were equal to the task.

To water his contribution to the world down by comparing his speeches with that of a talk show host, tells me we have no real heroes anymore.

I will continue to increase my alcohol intake and try not to think about that fact.

Thanks. I did not watch the Golden Globes, so missed this powerful speech.

    It’s inspiring.
