The Police Service reminds the public that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
So sad that they put the rest of a risk. They should not be able to own or drive any car. Need to get them off of our streets. Thank-you to the Police Officers that have to deal with these idiots.
The only thing that will stop this behaviour is to install a device on each and every car that would not allow a driver to drive while impaired. The technology exists the political will does not. We legislate seat belts so now we allow drunks to drive as long as they are wearing a seat belt. The police are doing their absolute best to stop this behaviour but how many drunks are out there that are not being caught. I can hear the outcry now, why should I have to pay for a device when I don’t drive drunk. Driving is not a right. The right to be safe from the drunks on the road should trump any perceived right to drive. Let’s be proactive not reactive. A suspended licence does little to stop the behaviour. Drivers simply drive without a licence. Installing the device after a conviction is too late. Some innocent victim may already have been killed.
