BURLINGTON, ON
This one sale sets a new price level and marks the beginning of the end for the Beachway community that wanted to remain in their homes.
The owner of a property that is in excellent shape with two residences on the land has been sold.

Sold for $1,302,000
The Regional Council approved the sale and a price of $1,302,000 that does not include incentives as outlined in the public Beachway Strategic Acquisition policy.
The sale will close December 22.

This doubling of cost (averaging about $650K so far per house versus the $333K predicted by the Region) was forecast by Burlington Waterfront when I delegated a few years ago.
This is an unnecessary purchase of the homes away from the lake, many which are well built and attractive like this. Their fate – demolishment for a park of little interest to those who come for the beach experience at the water’s edge.

Good for the seller’s. As if this wasn’t expected! Great incentive for the other sellers’ to hold out for even more. Hey, it is just tax payers hard earned money.
Private purchased or was it we the taxpayers?
Editor’s note: Public is paying for it – then they will buzz-doze it – they’ve done that with every other purchase.
