Rising 73 and 84 storeys in the heart of the Toronto entertainment district, Forma is defined by its twisting form and a shimmering façade, which was designed to reflect the city’s light and colour. A unique addition to the downtown core, renderings reveal stacked steel boxes soaring into the sky.
Construction has finally begun on Frank Gehry’s highly anticipated Forma condos.
The Canadian architect’s first residential towers in the country and his tallest buildings in the world, the two-tower Forma will top off well above most downtown Toronto skyscrapers.
Well, thank goodness that isn’t Burlington.
This is Burlington.
The 8 towers shown in the Burlington photo are right beside the GO Train Station and shopping plazas. These can be home to about 3,000 new residents.
Building along the transit corridor is a good plan.
What most Burlingtonians DON’T want, is towers built in the downtown – blocking access to Lake Ontario, and where there is NO transit hub to ease car traffic.
I don’t recognize anything here – conceptual or proposed or otherwise ideas location. Please tell us where this might be.
I knew the Toronto Gehry location, you told us, just not the Eastern Burlington Oval Court location.
That bottom picture Tom is indeed what is planned for Oval Court. And if you think transportation gridlock is bad on Appleby Line now just wait until the thousands of residents and commuters try to exit via the one entrance into the area at the Appleby/Fairview intersection because, as the Mayor said, there are no plans to extend Fairview through Sherwood Park.
It’s remarkable how they believe they can add thousands more people in multiple small areas like this one and downtown, etc and somehow the same roads and intersections and the same one hospital can just magically accommodate them all. It’s as if they know they’ll have moved on by then, so who cares? And I’d like stats on how many of our staff who plan all this live in Burlington. Because it’s known that a lot of them don’t.
