BURLINGTON, ON
There is just one thing you have to do today.
Well, actually two.
First get out and vote and hope that we get it right and get a government that can solve the mammoth problems ahead of us.
Second – enjoy the photograph set out below.
It is of Mayor Meed Ward and some city staff who are currently in Japan – as part of a mundialization delegation.
It looks as if they are dancing through the street – City Manager Tim Commisso, the man in the middle staring into the camera, looks very uncomfortable.
Tim Commisso is never going to forgive me for publishing the picture.

I’d like to know exactly how much you and I have paid so that these folks can enjoy a nice free vacation at our expense. How is any of this benefiting the people of Burlington, and why did so many people need to go? Did they figure out how to more effectively manage growth? Did they figure out the solution to our traffic woes? Did they figure out how to get the community more involved in the decision making process? What’s the community benefit of this all-expenses paid vacation? With all their talk about affordability in Burlington, what’s their justification for spending our hard earned money this way? So that they can post photos of how much fun they’re having on social media? You want to do this on your own time and dime, all the power to you, but that’s not what this is. It’s wasteful spending like this that drives me crazy when they try and justify or deflect responsibility for tax increases. Or is this Doug Ford’s fault too?
When I was a lot younger, working in aerospace with a bunch of Brit engineers, fluffy trips like this, were called a Jolly – I could be wrong, but Tim doesn’t look that Jolly.
Greta Thunberg is probably wondering if this trip was necessary and more importantly, how did they got there.
