BURLINGTON, ON

It is a typical political event. The MP chit chats with people and announces grants or hands out appreciation certificates

Burlington MP Karina Gould and member of the federal cabinet will be holding her 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018 from 7pm to 9pm at the Burlington Seniors Centre, Auditorium B, located at 2285 New Street.

The big question is – will she bring the new baby?

Politicians are usually expected to kiss every baby thrust into their arms.

Gould will have her own – with her?

Karina Gould is the perfect example of how ridiculous Trudeau’s gender equity agenda is. She is a cabinet minister in the federal government, chosen almost certainly to achieve the “because it’s 2015” 50% female cabinet (it certainly wasn’t based on her experience in…anything), and mid-term chose to have a baby over her career which happens to be the weighty business of the country.

The thing is, I’m not criticizing her for this decision and she should be applauded for choosing family and children over career but her decision illustrates perfectly why you can’t compare women to men apples to apples when looking for gender equity. We’re different and sometimes we have different life goals. I will point to this example for the next two decades whenever someone tells me it’s unfair there are more men in the boardroom or in the government or in Hollywood executive roles, etc., etc.
