The Halton Regional Police Service is currently investigating a series of unauthorized entries into commercial establishments occurring at First Choice Hair Cutters and restaurants throughout Burlington and Hamilton.
The entries began in September of 2017 and have continued into December of 2017. Halton Regional Police along with Hamilton Police service are currently trying to identify the above suspect.

Suspect Description: Male, white, 6’0″ +, thin build, 30-40 years, with short brown hair wearing a black jacket with thin white stripes running up the arms and white decals on the front chest area, dark blue jeans and dark coloured shoes/boots and black belt.

BURLINGTON, ON
The Regional police had to deal with multiple complaints of theft of purses and wallets at supermarkets in both Burlington and Oakville. The police were looking for two individuals for several thefts that have occurred in Oakville and Burlington. The thieves’ worke3d in pairs stealing from unattended shopping carts.
 They watch the person they are going to steal from carefully and then move in quickly – snatch the purse or wallet and they are gone in a flash. There was a theft early in November at the Whole Foods store in Oakville ; another on November, 26, 2017, where the same two suspects were videoed at the Metro grocery store, Oakville. During this incident, the suspects stole the victim’s purse while she left her shopping cart unattended. The suspects quickly fled the store after committing the theft.
On November 27, 2017, the suspects attended the Food Basics grocery store, located at 3365 Fairview Street, Burlington. During this incident, the suspects stole the victim’s purse as she attended a cooler to select a carton of milk. Once again, the suspects fled the store immediately after the theft.
Police have received 16 reports of such thefts since the beginning of November 2017 where persons targeted were senior citizens whose purses and/or wallets were stolen from their shopping carts while the owner was not looking.
Investigators have been working with area Loss Prevention Officers to identify the persons responsible and were able to positively identify several suspects.
 Captured on video – three are arrested.
On December 16th 2017, two persons were arrested in Mississauga and another arrested the following day when police executed a search warrant at an apartment on Hurontario Street in Mississauga. The following persons have been arrested and held for bail:
Barbara GRABOWKSA (45 yrs) of Mississauga
• Theft under $5000 (Nine Counts)
Mariusz ZELINSKI (44 yrs) of Mississauga
• Theft under $5000 (five counts)
• Obstruct peace officer
Beata PARCZEWSKA (37 yrs) of Mississauga
• Theft under $5000 (three counts)
The Regional police officers have very solid relationships with supermarket loss prevention officers xxx Hanson said “We are committed to continuing to work with LPO’s to identify and apprehend offenders – thieves should take note before deciding to steal in Halton Region”
 Residents should be aware of their surroundings and be alert for distraction type thefts when shopping in the grocery stores, malls and other retail business.

BURLINGTON, ON
On Saturday October 28th, 2017 the TD Canada Trust bank located at 500 Guelph Line in Burlington was robbed.
The person responsible for the robbery was identified as Jeffrey George GORSLINE (38 yrs) of No Fixed Address (Formerly of Nova Scotia)
During the robbery the suspect gave the teller a note demanding cash and indicated he had a weapon. The teller gave the bank robber an undisclosed amount of cash who then fled the bank and was last observed running westbound on Eileen Drive.
Investigators learned that GORSLINE was also wanted in connection with a Niagara Falls Bank of Montreal robbery that occurred several hours earlier on the same morning as the Burlington robbery. He was also wanted for three October bank robberies in Eastern Canada.
On October 30th 2017, GORSLINE was arrested on Federal parole warrant by uniformed officers from the Dryden Detachment of the O.P.P. and incarcerated at the Kenora Jail.
GORSLINE was eventually transferred to Maplehurst Correctional Complex and on December 1st 2017, he appeared in Milton Court charged with one count of robbery. GORSLINE was remanded into custody and will appear next for a bail hearing in Milton Court on December 18th 2017.

The Police Services Board met in Burlington in November, which is a first for some time.
Ward 1 Councillor Rick Craven who represents Burlington on that Board would have been the host.
During the meeting there may have been an update on the new police headquarters that are seriously behind the original production schedule.
 New police HQ – this is the view from the QEW. They were to be opened in the before the end of the year – it now looks as if the new building, located in Oakville a short five minute walk from the Regional offices on Bronte Road.
 This will be the public entrance to the new police HQ Police work is now much more than a police officer walking a beat. You might see a police officer on bike from time to time but policing today is done from the seat of a cruiser that is loaded with technology.
What’s in the cruiser has to be backed up by staff who keep the systems operational. The police haven’t put out much in the way of information yet.
The police are currently in the north end of the Regional offices. That space will be used by the Region for personnel who are currently located in rented space elsewhere in the Halton.
All there is for the public to see is the building which sits on a prominent site. It has a different look.

BURLINGTON, ON
Members of the Halton Police Fraud Unit while investigating a fraud commonly known as a “Lottery Scam” a type of advanced fee scam, intercepted two packages destined for an undisclosed location in Burlington. The packages contained a large quantity of cash that had been sent by two separate victims to the scam.
An advance fee scam is when a victim is instructed to send money in order to claim a substantially larger sum of money and the money sent is often alleged to pay taxes or administration fees before the larger sum can be released. The money is usually requested to be sent in some form of electronic payment but in this case the victims were requested to courier cash payments.
The combined amount of money recovered was $40,000.00 dollars in Canadian Cash and the fraud unit are investigating to identify the victims and return the funds.
There are going to be some very embarrassed people answering the door when the police call to return the funds.
Police would like to remind the public not to send cash or electronic transfers of money to anyone who has solicited these funds under promise of a bigger return of money. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Center is an excellent resource for the public to assist them in identifying many of the common scams and provides advice on how to avoid them.

BURLINGTON, ON
On December 10th 2017 at approximately 3:10 PM, several citizens notified police about a man who was observed breaking into cars at a townhouse complex at 2239 Walkers Line in Burlington.
Police quickly located the man riding a bike along Cleaver Avenue. He was arrested and found to be in possession of 8 grams of marihuana, along with property stolen from cars which included iHome speakers, cigarettes, hat and a pair of shoes. Police conducted further investigation into the bike the man was riding which turned out to have been freshly stolen from a shed at a residence on Heidi Crescent.
The man, identified as Charles Russell MCBEATH (18 yrs) of Burlington was released on bail and will appear in Milton Court on January 17th 2018 charged with the following offences:
• Theft under $5000
• Break, enter & theft
• Possession of a controlled substance (marihuana)
• Fail to comply with undertaking
Detective Sergeant Ron Hansen commented that “we (police) are appreciative of help from the public who are seeing suspicious activity happen and calling us right away”

On Saturday, December 9, 2017, after 3:30am, witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of Woodland Avenue and Victoria Avenue in the city of Burlington. Adam Smith (35) of Burlington was charged with care or control while impaired and care or control over 80mgs.
On Sunday, December 10, 2017, after 12:00am, witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of the Aldershot GO Station in Burlington. Jennifer Doucet (38) of Hamilton was charged with driving over 80mgs.
On Sunday, December 10, 2017, before 11:00pm, a traffic stop was initiated near Upper Middle Road and Guelph Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, Joseph Morris (45) of Burlington was charged with driving over 80mgs.
The Halton Regional Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.
Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.

Earlier in the month, Friday December 1st 2017, between 2:30 AM and 4:30 AM, numerous unlocked vehicles were entered and property stolen on Maryvale Court in Burlington.
Property stolen included loose change, GPS devices, debit/credit cards, sunglasses, headphones, CD’s and cigarettes.
 Officers from the Burlington Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Wayne Erik MILLAR (20 yrs) of Burlington as the person responsible.
MILLAR was arrested on December 10th and held for bail charged with seven counts of theft under $5000.00.
Detective Sergeant Ron Hansen commented that “these types of occurrences are preventable if citizens would take appropriate steps to secure their belongings and lock their car doors”
Police are reminding the public of the following prevention tips:
• Ensure your unattended vehicle(s) are kept locked/secure
• Never leave personal identification or valuables in your vehicle
• Park in a well-lit and attended areas whenever possible
• Never leave spare keys in your vehicle
• If you have to leave valuables in your vehicle, lock them in your trunk. Don’t tempt thieves by leaving packages or purses in plain view or on the seat.
• Remove garage door openers, GPS navigation and cell phone devices & power cords from view when not in your vehicle
• Consider installing CCTV / Surveillance cameras which can capture the crime and aid in suspect identification
• ensure their homes and garages are locked when absent from the home or turning in for the night.

Expect to see officers engaged in R.I.D.E activity anywhere and anytime during the month of December, as officers across the Province launch the holiday R.I.D.E campaign.
 Regional police doing RIDE checks. Expect to see them all over the place during the month of December. Halton Regional Police Service takes an aggressive approach to impaired driving throughout the year, not only during this holiday season. We work in close partnership with M.A.D.D and our EMS organizations to reduce impaired driving everywhere.
Officers will be deployed in a variety of different vehicles and focused on community events, licensed establishments, in both residential subdivisions and industrial and commercial areas. Compliance checks for those previously charged with impaired driving offences, and subject to ongoing license prohibitions, will also be occurring.
Impaired driving is a Crime in Progress. With the community’s help in reporting possible impaired drivers to police, we can all work together to keep our roads and community safe.

• 51 impaired driving arrests

BURLINGTON, ON
There is someone out there who wasn’t aware of the number of video security systems installed along Lakeshore Road – particularly in the 5000 block.
 Suspect was captured on video at several homes in the 5000 block of Lakeshore Road. Police in Burlington are investigating a rash of residential break and enters into homes, garages and cars in south east Burlington.
 Video from several security cameras captured good images of the suspect.
 In many instances the suspects do not appear to be aware that they are being filmed. Between 6:30 PM on December 3rd and 6:00 AM on December 4th 2017, a lone male suspect is believed to be responsible for breaking into at least six garages to steal bikes and other miscellaneous items as well as trying the front doors to two residences in the 5000 block of Lakeshore Road. The same suspect is also believed to have broken into numerous unlocked cars in the same area.
The suspect was captured on video at several homes and police are asking for assistance from the public to help identify him.
The suspect is described as a white male, early 20’s, thin build, approximately 5’7″ to 6′ tall, wearing a touque, light checkered winter coat and running shoes

BURLINGTON, ON
At approximately 7:45 PM yesterday police responded to a report in the area of Surrey Lane and Warwick Drive of a large group of male youths fighting.
When officers arrived the youths had already dispersed however a vehicle leaving the area was stopped and two of the occupants reported being stabbed during the fight. Both were transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is not yet known however they are not believed to be life threatening.
A third youth was located at the Joseph Brant Hospital where he was being treated for a cut to his right arm that occurred during the same fight.
Investigators were able to identify and arrest a 17-year-old male youth responsible for the stabbings. This youth cannot be identified because of his age. He was held for bail charged with the following offences:
• Aggravated assault
• Carry concealed weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Assault with a weapon (Two counts)
• Breach of undertaking

The Halton Regional Police want to identify two individuals involved in several thefts that have occurred in Oakville and Burlington. The individuals have attended grocery stores and stolen wallets and purses from unattended shopping carts.
On November 3, 2017, the two suspects attended the Whole Foods grocery store, located at 301 Cornwall Road, Oakville. While the victim left her buggy unattended for a brief period, the unknown female suspect stole the victim’s wallet. The unknown male suspect appeared to be acting as a look-out while the female committed the theft.
 It takes place in seconds – she wasn’t looking – he was. On November, 26, 2017, the same two suspects attended the Metro grocery store, located at 1521 Rebecca Street, Oakville. During this incident, the suspects stole the victim’s purse while she left her shopping cart unattended. The suspects quickly fled the store after committing the theft.
On November 27, 2017, the suspects attended the Food Basics grocery store, located at 3365 Fairview Street, Burlington. During this incident, the suspects stole the victim’s purse as she attended a cooler to select a carton of milk. Once again, the suspects fled the store immediately after the theft.
During this busy Holiday Season, Halton Regional Police are reminding residents to keep a close eye on their purses and wallets. Residents should be aware of their surroundings and be alert for distraction type thefts when shopping in the grocery stores, malls and other retail business.
Residents are reminded to only carry the necessary identification such as Driver’s Licence or Health Card, and should try to minimize this potential loss by leaving their SIN card, birth certificate and passports securely at home.

BURLINGTON, ON
On November 21, 2017 at 9:50 am, two masked men entered the Royal Bank of Canada, located at 2025 William O’Connell Boulevard, Burlington.
They indicated they were armed and demanded money. The two men were unsuccessful in obtaining money and quickly fled that Royal Bank of Canada.
At 10:46 am, the same two masked men entered the TD Canada Trust, located at 2325 Trafalgar Road, Oakville.
This time, the two men received an undisclosed amount of money and fled to an awaiting Mazda 3 driven by a third culprit.
The Halton Regional Police Service quickly responded to the area and successfully followed the three culprits to a commercial plaza located at the intersection of Burnhamthorpe Road West and Creditview Road, Mississauga.
All three culprits were safely arrested. Officers recovered a replica firearm, the undisclosed amount of money, clothing worn during the robberies, the Mazda 3 and a small amount of marijuana.
All three were transported to the Oakville police station where they were held in custody pending a bail hearing. The three culprits are expected to appear for a bail hearing at the Milton courthouse on November 22, 2017.

They had my attention.
The moment I saw that Netflix logo on the screen I immediately went to the Netflix bookmark to see if there was a problem with my service.
Whew! There was nothing wrong with the service – the email was an attempt to steal some of my identity. All they had so far was an email address – I didn’t want them to have even that much but they picked it up somewhere – part of what we have to put up with in this digital age.
 I am really enjoying the multi-episode feature – The Fall with Gillian Anderson – she of XFiles fame.
The Identity Thieves are getting craftier – be careful – don’t let them learn anything about you. They will create a profile of you and when they reach a certain point they will begin probing and see if they can get credit card or banking information.
One of the protections you can create is to use a pre-paid credit card. It really isn’t credit but it allows you to pay people who use credit cards as their form of collecting for services they provide.
With a Prepaid credit card you control the amount on the card – you can re-load it almost instantly.
Ask you banker to set one up for you.

Getting something from your bank that starts by calling you an “Esteemed Customer” tells you that the writer of the note knows nothing about banks in Canada.
This most recent attempt at Identity Theft got sent out to as many names as the thieves could lay their hands on. We don’t bank with the Royal – but for those that do – the note may have been something they would respond to.
Kiss of death if you do that.
Rule # 1 – if in doubt don’t.
There are some that will have clicked on the link – that will be a painful experience.
This email is filled with clues – why would a bank have the words hairdresser in the email address? And what bank do you know that would refer to you as an “esteemed customer”. Be vigilant and you will be safe. This form of Identity theft is with us for at least five years.

The Husky Gas Station at 5319 Lakeshore Road, was robbed on Tuesday at approximately 10:00pm.
A lone male suspect entered the gas station and approached the employee behind the counter. The suspect made a verbal demand for cash. The employee complied with his request and an undisclosed amount of cash was provided to the suspect.
The suspect fled the gas station and was last observed running northbound on Kenwood Avenue.
No weapon was observed during the robbery, nor was anyone injured.
 The suspect is described as:
• Male, possibly black
• 20 -25 years old
• 5″8 to 5″9 tall
• Slim build 140 – 150 Ibs
• Black Jacket with fur rimmed hood
• Black gloves
• Black pants
• Red bandana
• Carrying a black backpack

The Regional Police have released data on the most recent Impaired Driving arrests made.
On Thursday, November 16, 2017, before 11:00pm, a traffic stop was initiated near the intersection of Mill Street and Martin Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, Aaron Brouwer (43) of Wallaceburg was charged with driving over 80mgs.
 Police doing RIDE checks – do they deter drivers who have been drinking? On Saturday, November 18, 2017, after 2:00am, a traffic stop was initiated near Woodward Avenue and Ontario Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, Jeremiah LeBlanc (27) of Milton was charged with driving over 80mgs.
On Saturday, November 18, 2017, after 5:30pm, Halton Police officers investigated a collision near the intersection of Guelph Street and Draper Street in Halton Hills involving an alleged impaired driver. Police charged Donald Bacon (79) of Brightsgrove with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired driving over 80mgs.
On Saturday, November 18, 2017, after 7:00pm, Halton Police officers investigated a collision near the intersection of Guelph Line and Harvester Road in Burlington involving an alleged impaired driver. Police charged Renu Sethi (49) of Burlington with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired driving over 80mgs.
On Saturday, November 18, 2017, after 9:30pm, witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in Burlington. Adam Johnson (37) of Burlington was arrested near the intersection of Dundas Street and Rotary Way and charged with care or control while impaired and care or control over 80mgs.
On Saturday, November 18, 2017, after 10:00pm, witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in Milton. Ravindra Gnanamuttu (56) of Milton was arrested near the intersection of Ontario Street South and Parkway Drive East and charged with drive while ability impaired and impaired driving over 80mgs.
 There are signs along many highways – showing a small cross and an In Memory of – marking the location where a drunk driver lost control of a car. The Halton Regional Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.
Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
The Service’s Twitter and Facebook accounts should not be used for this purpose as they are not monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
